Abstract
1280855 Catalyst recovery RHONE-POULENC SA 29 Oct 1969 [30 Oct 1968] 53073/69 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions C1 and C7] A process for the recovery of metallic catalyst and nitric acid from a mother liquor resulting from the nitric acid oxidation of cycloalkanols and/or cycloalkanones in the presence of metal ions as catalyst comprises introducing the mother liquor into the dilution compartment, while introducing water or an aqueous solution of a mineral acid into the concentration compartment of an electrodialysis cell; electrodialysing; and then removing from the concentration compartment an aqueous solution containing substantially all the nitric acid and the metallic ions initially present in the mother liquor, and from the dilution compartment an aqueous solution containing the greater part of the organic acids initially present in the mother liquor. In the Examples the mother liquor consists of an aqueous stream containing a mixture of copper and vanadium ions, nitric acid and organic diacids and aqueous nitric acid is added to the concentration compartment.
