Abstract

1280816 Connecting element SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 July 1969 [26 July 1968] 35687/68 Heading E1W A channelled structural element 12 of rolled steel is fixed in an elongate polyproylene extrudate 14 embedded in concrete 4. The extrudate 14 and the element 12 are keyed to the concrete by means of the flange 11 parallel to the face of the concrete. A strip 19 integral with the extrudate 14 abuts the free edge of the flange 10 to hold the hooked end 6 of a connecting device 5, in the channel 1. In another embodiment shown in Fig. 2 the rolled steel structural element 21 keyed directly into the concrete has two flanges 20, against the free end of either of which the hook 6 of the connecting device 5 is clamped by the face 29 of an elongate polypropylene extrudate 28. In the further embodiment of Fig. 5 the polypropylene flange 39 is clamped in the element 33 and bares against the free end of the flange 30.
