Abstract

1280592 Pivotal drawing boards P G BERGMAN 5 March 1970 [14 March 1969] 10556/70 Heading A4H A pivotal drawing board 5 is counterbalanced by an adjustable torsion bar or bars and is lockable in a selected pivotal position. The drawing board 5 is pivoted at 4 at each side of a frame on two members 23, the inner members 23 having open topped recesses to freely accommodate a tube 8 and the outer members 23 having open topped recesses to rigidly accommodate a torsion bar or bars 7 located in the tube 8. The tube 8 is secured at each end to arms 11 from which the torsion bar 7 protrudes to be secured against rotation in said recesses. The arms 11 are biased upwardly by twisting the centre of the torsion bar 7 with respect to the tube 8. The centre of the torsion bar 7, Fig. 7, is held in a block 14 from which a screw 15 protrudes. The screw is passed through a vertical slot 16, Fig.9, in the tube 8, and through an inclined slot 19 in a member 18 on the outside of the tube so that, by axially moving the member 18 the screw is moved in the slot 16 to turn the torsion bar 7. The drawing board is lockable in a selected position by a bolt and friction washers acting in an arcuate slot 27, Fig.2 in the arms 11 which have rollers 12 acting on cams 13 on the underside of the board.
