Abstract

1279451 Intruder alarms COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA 30 June 1969 33010/69 Heading G4N A device for detecting change and motion in a scene comprises a TV camera 1 (sensitive to light or infra-red) and a comparison rate divider 5 arranged to pass information from the camera 1 at predetermined intervals, which are a multiple of the time interval between successive scanning, to a storage tube 7 having means to provide a warning or recording of changes or motion in the given scene. As described, the divider 5 limits picture comparison to one frame in two up to ten and thus increases the apparent rate of movement of any object or person. The selected frames are displayed on a storage tube 7 of the barrier-grid or photo-conductive vidicon type having provision at 8 for monitoring the current into or out of the target. This current only occurs following a change in scene and is detected at 8, the result being stored at 9 and used to trigger a strobe generator 10 arranged to open a gate 11 which passes only signals from the part of the scene where most movement has occurred. Such signals due to movement are integrated at 12 and if of sufficient magnitude, pass a second threshold detector 13 and set off an alarm 14. The scanned area may be limited by means of a window generator 16 arranged to exclude regions (e.g. trees) having normal movement.
