Abstract
1278641 Making conveyer belts INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 2 June 1969 [6 June 1968] 27771/69 Headings B5A and B5N [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A method of manufacturing conveyer belts or drive belts comprises forming a tube 2 of elastomeric or synthetic resin material with longitudinal reinforcing threads 10 embedded therein, cutting the tube along a generatrice by means of a knife 3 and then opening out the tube to form a flat band 4. Further layers 6 of elastomeric or synthetic resin material, fed from bobbins 7, may be attached to one or both of the faces of the band 4. In further embodiments, Fig. 4 (not shown), the tube is further reinforced by a helically wound reinforcing thread (13) which may be in abutment with the longitudinal threads (12) or spaced therefrom, Fig. 8 (not shown). The threads may be made from textile material, e.g. nylon, rayon and/or metallic material.
