Abstract
1278218 Controlling diesel engines FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 28 Jan 1971 3352/71 Heading F1K In a diesel engine a) a fuel shut-off device 10 is movable manually against spring bias 13 to an "on" position; b) a latch 12 is normally engagable with the fuel shut-off device to hold it in an "on" position c) a solenoid 17 connected to an engine on/off switch is energized when the switch is turned off, and the engine is running d) when the solenoid 17 is energized it disables the latch 12 thereby allowing the fuel shut-off device 10 to return to an "off" position and e) the solenoid is automatically de-energized when the engine is stopped. The solenoid is de-energized when an oil pressure switch (not shown) opens, the oil pressure switch being arranged to open when the oil pressure falls below a predetermined value.
