Abstract
1277865 Insulated pipes KABELUND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 2 Dec 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 57234/70 Heading F2P In producing a thermally and acoustically insulated metal pipe a spacer spiral 5 is applied to the pipe 1 and a self-foaming synthetic resin material is introduced by a filling device 8 into a slit tube 7 which is sealed at 11. Preferably the pipe 1 is of copper, the spacer 5 is of paper and the tube 7 is welded from a strip of a synthetic resin material, e.g. P.V.C. or of metal, e.g. aluminium. A paper liner 3 prevents the selffoaming synthetic resin, preferably polyurethane, from adhering to the pipe 1, and a guide tube 9, preferably heated, expands the synthetic resin. Means are provided for continuously advancing and drawing off the pipe, and rollers shape the slit tube 7.
