Abstract
1277857 Antiskid braking systems FIAT SpA 29 Dec 1970 [13 Jan 1970] 61553/70 Heading F2F In an antiskid braking system a solenoid valve 16 located in a line between a master cylinder 10 and brake cylinder is controlled by a signal generated by ascertaining the value of wheel slip at an instant not earlier than the instant of initiation of release of braking and resuming the braking when the slip of the wheel again reaches such a value. When a pedal 12 is depressed fluid passes through the normally open valve 16 to brake wheel 22. If the deceleration of the wheel exceeds a certain value a tachometer 24 supplying a signal to a threshold circuit 28 via a differentiating circuit 26 causes circuit 28 to set a flip-flop 34, which through an amplifier 36 causes solenoid 16 to be energized to release the braking action on wheel 22. At the same time a linear function generator 30, receiving a vehicle deceleration signal from accelerometer 40, is triggered by the output signal from threshold circuit 28 causing it to apply a signal to a comparator 44. When the wheel speed signal from tachometer 24 and the fictitious wheel speed signal from linear function generator 30 are equal indicating that the slip value is that which it had at the moment of brake release, comparator 44 resets flip-flop 34 which causes valve 16 to become de-energized and restore braking on wheel 22. To restore braking for a larger value of slip a delay circuit 50, Fig. 5 (not shown) is provided in the conductor 32 connecting the threshold circuit 28 to generator 30.
