Abstract

1277623 Plastics bottle crate G SERE 3 Oct 1969 [3 Oct 1968] 48825/69 Heading B8P A plastics bottle crate comprises at each side hand holes 4 of a generally trapezoidal shape and having undulations to facilitate handling. The crates may be stacked, bosses 16 of truncated pyramidal shape on the top of the side walls of one crate engaging hollows 17 on the bottom of another orate, and bosses 12-15 and hollows 12a-15a on the long sides of one crate engaging corresponding hollows and bosses on the sides of an adjacent crate. Reinforcing webs 7, 8, 9 at the corners of the crate are indented in the vicinity of bosses 12-15 to allow their free passage when the crate is disengaged from between two adjacent crates, and web 8 is also indented at 8a and its outer end terminates in a bulb to facilitate insertion of the fingers below a reinforcing web 5 and subsequent lifting of the crate. The lower part of the crate is provided with a honeycomb structure of Y-shaped partitions 23 supported at the bottom by a lattice of cross-pieces (26) at the cross-over points of which are star-shaped elements 22 comprising a cup (22a) with a central hollow (22b) and orifice (22c) for support and drainage of an empty upside-down bottle, and radial vanes (22d) on which a full, upright bottle rests. Apertures 3 for the forks of alifting truck are provided.
