Abstract

1276574 Horticultural and structural panels H R PAWLICKI 25 Aug 1969 [6 Sept 1968] 42297/69 Headings E1J and E1R A window like structural panel for horticultural purposes and construction of greenhouses &c other building structures comprises a rectangular frame 10 in which each member consists of two L-shaped sections 15, 16 with their bases 15, 16 confronting and parallel and their flanges 17, 18 oppositely directed in the same plane and may be directly connected (Figs. 7, 8 and 9) and in any case are coupled together by a sleeve 20 provided with a leadin slot 21 through which the flat bases 15, 16 project to sandwich therebetween the reinforced marginal portions of a transparent or translucent sheet 50 e.g. of polyterephthalic acid ester, such as polyethylene terephthalate, the flat sections of two opposite frame members being sandwiched between the flat sections of the other two opposite frame members at the corners of the frame, the overlapping corner portions being provided with diagonally disposed coincident slots 25 and the marginal portions of the sheet 50 being provided with circular holes coincident with the slots 25, to receive tension screws to stretch the sheet 50 tightly. Further holes and slots 27 may be provided intermediate the corners. Holes 30, 31 in the flanges 17, 18 and in the sleeves receive fixing screws, and tongues (40 Fig. 5) on a section 15 may be covered and secured by the sleeve 20 on an adjacent side. Two side by side panels may be coupled together as indicated in Fig. 6 by an overall sleeve 35 over one half of sleeves 20.
