Abstract

1276066 Winding packages; waste bunch TEIJIN Ltd 5 Feb 1970 [10 Feb 1969] 5663/70 Headings DID and D1J [Also in Division B8] A process for winding a yarn package in a yarn winding or spinning machine comprises temporarily stopping the yarn traversing motion to form a bulge of yarn on the surface of the package just before, or at the moment, each motor for driving rollers and the winding spindles is switched off at the end of the winding operation and subsequently removing waste yarn from the package by unwinding the yarn wound on the package after formation of the bulge together with the yarn forming the bulge; the bulge forms an indication of the waste yarn on the package due to incorrect drawing, heat treatment or twisting as a result of the decrease in speed at the switch off of the machine. In a preferred embodiment, after the formation of the bulge on the package, a second bunch of yarn is wound on the package tube outside the main package of yarn, the yarn preferably being traversed several times between the formation of the first bulge and the second bunch. A transfer tail is preferably initially wound on a waste spool at the base of the tube. The method is applicable to draw-twisters, ring- twisters, doublers and yarn winding machines.
