Abstract

1275252 Grinding COVENTRY CORP OF 22 July 1969 [24 April 1968] 19275/68 Heading B3D [Also in Division F2] A journal for a hydrodynamic bearing assembly having shallow helical recesses is produced by machining the recess using a rotary abrading or cutting tool of plain cylindrical form, and traversing the tool in timed relationship with rotation of the journal, with the plane of rotation of the tool inclined to the axis of the journal at an angle in accordance with the required helix angle of the recess. The width and depth of the recess is varied by adjusting the infeed of the journal to the grinding wheel
