Abstract
1,274,839. Pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. DOW CORNING CORP. 15 July, 1970 [16 July, 1969; 20 April, 1970], No. 34241/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] A pressure-sensitive adhesive tape may be prepared by coating glass cloth with a flame resistant composition comprising (A) 100 pbw of a polydiorganosiloxane gum having 1.98- 2.002 organic radicals per Si atom, of which 0-2% are vinyl radicals, 0-50% are trifluoropropyl radicals and 0-10% are phenyl radicals, the remainder being methyl radicals, (B) 0-100 pbw of a reinforcing silica filler, (C) 0.1-10 pbw of an organic peroxide, (D) 10-150 ppm of (A) of Pt in an unsupported form, and (E) 0.5-100 pbw of fume TiO 2 , of average particle diameter below 0.1 micron, with 5-235 pbw of a benzene-soluble resin having triorganosilyl and SiO 2 units. In Example 9 a polydimethylsiloxane diol gum is mixed with a benzene-soluble methyl polysiloxane resin, a polydimethylsiloxane diol liquid, benzoyl peroxide, fume TiO 2 H 2 PtCl 6 , tetramethylguanidine 2-ethylhexoic acid, isopropanol and xylene; the mixture is used to coat glass cloth to give a pressure sensitive adhesive tape.
