1,274,560. Combined reciprocating and oscillating drives. KUMAG A.G. MASCHINENFABRIK. 16 Nov., 1970 [19 Nov., 1969], No. 54364/70. Heading F2K. A driving unit for producing simultaneous reciprocating and oscillating motion, applicable to conveyers, consists of a plastics member with end discs 2a, 2b connected by integral helical webs 2c which, when disc 2a is reciprocated axially relative to disc 2b causes rotation of disc 2a. In the arrangement shown the disc 2b is connected to an armature 10 integral with a drive shaft 9, the armature being reciprocated by a solenoid 5 with a core 8. The latter includes an air gap 12 which is adjustable to vary the amplitude of movement by a worm gear 13, 14 operating a threaded spindle 7. In a simpler form, Fig. 2 (not shown), spindle 7 is adjustably carried in a threaded housing and is provided with a lock nut. Supplementary springs may be fitted between discs 2a, 2b or between disc 2b and the main housing.
