Abstract
1,274,538. Electric couplings. AMP Inc. 7 Sept., 1970 [6 Nov., 1969], No. 54405/69. Heading H2E. An electrical connector for connecting the conductors of a tape cable to contact posts on an instrument panel comprises a sheet metal base provided with a post receptacle 5, two pairs of ears 8 whose upper edges have been sharpened to form crimping ferrules of the type described in Specification 1,146,807 and lances 9. The cap and lances are struck up from the base or formed separately and then riveted to the base. In use the post receptacle protrudes through a preformed hole in the conductor or insulation and the ears pierce the insulation to engage the conductor. The post receptacle is tapered and provided with slits 6 to facilitate a force fit with the contact posts.
