Abstract

1,273,811. Two-part couplings. J. C. NUDELMONT. 11 April, 1969 [12 April, 1968], No. 18644/69. Heading H2E. A socket contact 19 for an electrical connector is rendered capable of receiving pins of different sizes by a spring loaded ball 21. The connector may also receive a printed circuit contact pin in a smaller adjacent socket. The balls of such sockets may be loaded by a common spring as may also be more than one ball in a single socket. A fiat contact pin may be engaged by a flat contact surface parallel to the axis, which may be produced by a longitudinal slot, or by a spring contact blade. A socket member provided with such alternative contacts, in which, however, removable pins may be inserted, may be connected by flexible cable to a plug which may have some pins permanently moulded in place and some alternative removable pins.
