Abstract
1,273,285. Transverse rolling. VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENI. 15 Oct., 1970 [16 Oct., 1969], no. 49153/70. Heading B3M. A workplace is rolled in two stages in a transverse rolling machine, the wprkpiece first being profiled by wedge tools 11, and then being sized between an extension 12 of one of the tools and a fixed rolling platen 9. Between the two stages the wprkpiece is severed by two pairs of cutting blades from bar stock fed axially and intermittently between the rolls of the machine. In place of the extension 12, a pair of rollers 14, 15 may be attached to the lower roll. The workpiece is supported by the rollers as it cooperates with the jaw 9. The rollers are rotated during this operation by the co-operation of pinions at their ends with a fixed arcuate rack.
