Abstract

[Also in Divisions C3 and D1] A mat of glass fibres coated with a binder comprising a tri-polymer of phenol-formaldehyde, melamine-formaldehyde and mica-formaldehyde to which 30% of dicyardiamide is added, based on the weight of solids in the binder, disposed on a conveyer is advanced and compressed by another conveyer from above whilst the resin is cured at a temperature of about 250‹ C. The thermal insulation produced was formed to a thickness of 1 inch and to a density of 3 1bs. per cubic foot. The glass fibres may be replaced by other mineral fibres such as asbestos.
