Abstract

1,272,775. Thermal switches. OTTER CONTROLS Ltd. 27 Nov., 1969 [28 Aug., 1968], No. 41170/68. Heading H1N. A thermal control unit for an electrically heated member comprises a base-plate 1 for securing to the member, a thermal switch 10 mounted on base-plate 1 so as to be responsive to the temperature of the member in use and to control the supply of electric power to the member in dependence on its temperature, and a number of clamping type connectors 5, 6, 7 mounted on base-plate 1, two connectors 6, 7 being directly clamped, or positioned for direct clamping, one to each of the terminals of switch 10. The thermal switch 10 is substantially identical to that shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of Specification 903,807. The unit is described, Fig. 3 (not shown), as mounted on an electrically heated hair-curling apparatus of the type comprising a heated plate bearing a series of heatconducting pins for supporting tubular haircurling rollers. Base-plate 1 is of moulded plastics and connectors 5, 6, 7 are in a terminal block 4 moulded integrally with base-plate 1 and also moulded integrally with base-plate 1 is a housing 9 for switch 10, a cable clamp 17, and a boss 24 to receive a spigot on the haircurling apparatus base.
