Abstract
1,272,550. Rollers. METAL-TECH. Inc. 23 March, 1971, No. 7827/71. Heading F2U. [Also in Division D2] A roll having a hollow honeycomb openwork cylinder as in Specification 1,067,073 except that the straight strips 31, 32, 33 extend radially outwardly further than the bent strips 34, 35. The strips may be of stainless steel and have further strips encircling the roller passing through slits in the radially outer edges of the straight strips 31, 32, 33. The bent strips 34, 35 may have cut-outs 50 to provide a longer welding edge 51 which also facilitates flow through the cylinder. The cylinder may be encircled with a similar inverted cylinder of finer gauge holes &c., some of the straight strips of the two cylinders either engaging, along their lengths, or intersecting each other. The cylinder may be encircled with a meshed screen.
