Abstract
1,271,649. Blasting. CENTRI-SPRAY Ltd. 14 Aug., 1969 [15 Aug., 1968], No. 39156/68. Heading B3D. A machine for debarring engineering components, such as the inlet and exhaust manifolds of internal combustion engines comprises indexing means 26 arranged to carry the components through a plurality of stations 1 ... 12 at one or more 3, 4, 5 the components are treated by high pressure deburring jets 13, 14, 15 to effect precision deburring of preselected areas of the components, and low pressure deburring jets 16, 17 effect general deburring of the components as they are moved between stations. As described, the indexing means consists of a rotary table which moves the workpiece successively through the stations 1 ... 12. At station 1 workpieces are unloaded and loaded. A new workpiece as station 1 is moved through a vestibule station 2 and then to stations 3, 4, 5 each of which has a high pressure jet 13, 14, 15 supplied with blast or pressure fluid under the control of a valve from a pump 33. During the movement between stations 13, 14, 15, the valve closes the supply to the high pressure jets, which are directed at selected areas of the components, and opens the supply through a reducing valve 32 to the low pressure jets 16, 17 which effect the general deburring as the components are moved from station to station. From the de-burring stations, the components are moved through a flush station having opposed jets 18, for removing heavies and shot, alternately operable by a valve 20 to supply the same fluid as used by the high and low pressure jets from a pump 19. The components then pass through a vestibule station 7 to washing stations 8, 9 having opposed jets 23, 24 alternately operable by a valve 25 to supply clean water from a pump 21, the water passing through a filter 22. Finally the components pass through a vestibule station 10 to stations 11, 12 having blow nozzles 22 supplied from a fan 28. Partitions 37 are disposed between some of the stations and air knives 29 connected to the fan 28 by conduit 24 prevent over-carry of dirty fluid between stations.
