Abstract

1,270,653. Dams. HOVERCRAFT DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 15 April, 1969 [16 April, 1968], No. 17896/68. Addition to 1,210,494. Heading EIH. The dam according to the parent specification is improved or modified by the provision of flexible wall means 30, which in combination with the wall members 4 define a succession of open-topped bags, these bags being filled with water to sink the dam and hold it in contact with the bed of the body of water 2. Anchoring ropes, cables or rods 8 are attached to stakes 9 and secured to the bags by e.g. lacing, so as to hold the upper edges of the bags above the surface 33. Adjacent edges 10 and/or 31 of the wall members may be connected to each other by e.g. stitching. Two of such dams may be disposed so as to provide a dry space therebetween, Fig. 3 (not shown). An overflow pipe may extend between the dams.
