Abstract

1,269,887. Azo dyes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 10 Feb., 1970 [13 Feb., 1969], No. 6340/70. Heading C4P. The invention comprises sulphonic acidcontaining azo dyestuffs of the formula wherein; R 1 is an aliphatic radical and R 2 an aliphatic or phenyl radical; R 1 and R 2 together containing 3-10 carbon atoms and optionally -together forming an alicyclic ring containing preferably 5 or 6 carbon atoms; R represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, or an alkyl, alkoxy or sulphonic acid group and if n is greater than 1 the substituents may be the same or different; k is the radical of a coupling component of the naphthalene or pyrazole series; n is 1-4; and p is 1 or 2. Preferred coupling compononts are of the amino-naphthol or pyrazolone series, preferred dyes having the formula wherein R 3 is acyl. The dyes are prepared conventionally by diazotization and coupling and give yellow, red and blue shades on nitrogencontaining fibre materials.
