Abstract

1,269,885. Watches. BULOVA WATCH CO. Inc. Jan.28, 1970 [Feb. 6, 1969], No.4194/70. Heading G3T. An electronic watch uses a button-type mercury cell 2 which extends from a peripheral point 3 on a pillar plate (1) Fig. 2 (not shown) to the vicinity of or beyond the axis of the hands. A tuning fork resonator 4, having times 6, is arranged at the side of the cell 2 and each tine 6 carries a pair of permanent magnets 7 which interact with a flat coil 8 comprising a sensing and a drive winding. The coil 8 is supported by a plastics module 9 containing the electronic circuit. A minute wheel 24 which drives an hour wheel 26 by means of a pinion 25 is completely within the projected area of the cell 2 when viewed perpendicularly to the pillar plate (1).
