Abstract

1,267,773. Articulated vehicles. FISKARS A.B. OY. 12 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969], No. 11900/70. Heading B7H. In a joint assembly for permitting the two sections 10, 11 of an articulated vehicle to swivel about a vertical axis and oscillate about a longitudinal axis relative to one another, the pivot means accommodating oscillation about the horizontal axis comprises a slide member 2 which is pivotally mounted on a boss 6 carried by a joint frame 1 and slidably engages the frame 1 at a location spaced from the pivot axis through bearing elements 8. A vertical pivot pin 3 permits swivelling about a vertical axis for steering purposes. The bearing elements 8 may have bearing surfaces which are supported on an elastic substrate and provide a frictional resistance to oscillation for improving the stability of the vehicle. An opening through the boss 6 accommodates a transmission shaft 15 connecting driven axles 13, 15 on both sections 10, 11.
