Abstract

1,267,486. Dyeing leather. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 30 July, 1970 [30 July, 1969], No. 36933/70. Heading D1B. Leather is dyed with an aqueous dyebath containing (a) 0.1 to 50 gms/litre of a 1:2 chromium or cobalt azo dye complex which is free of sulphonic acid groups and which contains less than 20% by weight of diluents, (b) 50 to 500 gms/litre of organic solvents of unlimited miscibility with water and of boiling point above 70‹C (c) optionally 1 to 50 gm/ litre of an organic carboxylic acid e.g. formic and acetic acids. The dyes may be used in the form of concentrated solutions in organic solvents which are miscible with water, a second treatment with the dye solution may be given.
