Abstract

1,267,483. Stud and socket fastenings. SCOVILL MFG. CO. 17 July, 1970 [22 July, 1969], No. 34910/70. Heading E2B. An adjustable snap fastening in combination with a flap 10 and a panel 9 and for securing the flap to the panel, comprises a stud 11 mounted on the flap and, mounted on the panel, a plastics, elongated block 13 of rectangular outline and having means for snap engagement with the stud at any of a plurality of sockets 14 located along the length of the block, and, a one-piece retainer comprising a frame with side walls 17, 18 and end walls 19, 20 joined by uninterrupted smoothly rounded corners 22. An overhanging lip 21 along the edges of the side and end walls that are remote from the panel engage a shoulder 16 on the block and inwardly turned supporting webs 23, 24 along the edges of the side walls adjacent the panel and terminating a substantial distance from the corners 22 have joined to the inner edges thereof securing flanges 26, 27, such flanges extending through the panel and being bent over against the panel in opposite directions to clamp the retainer to the panel.
