Abstract

1,267,392. Pitch composition. KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 3 April, 1969 [4 April, 1968; 20 April, 1968 (2)], No. 17457/69. Heading C3N. [Also in Division C5] A pitch composition is made by cracking a petroleum hydrocarbon, and heating the resulting tar at atmospheric or reduced pressure, optionally with air-blowing, see Division C5, and grinding the pitch so produced to a powder to size at least small enough to pass a 4-mesh sieve (Tyler). The powder is mixed with asphalt, coal tar pitch, asphaltites, and may include aggregates comprising inorganic substances such as clays, silica, pearlite, soil, sand, gravel, cement, fly-ash, asbestos, rock wool, glass fibre, and paper, sawdust and rubber. The aggregates may form 50 to 2500 parts per 100 parts of the pitch. The pitch powder may be slurried with an aromatic hydrocarbon oil of boiling range 250‹ to 450‹ C. in the proportion of 100 parts pitch to 7 to 200 parts by weight oil.
