Abstract
1,265,821. Adhesive compositions. E. R. SQUIBB & SONS Inc. 24 Feb., 1969, No. 9746/69. Headings C3F, C3N and C3U. Adhesive compositions, especially denture adhesive compositions, comprise 30 to 60% by weight of an adhesive hydrocolloid and/or a water-soluble cellulose ether or salt thereof, 1À5 to 20% by weight of powdered water-insoluble absorptive cellulose material and 35 to 65% by weight of petrolatum. The hydrocolloid may be guar gum, karaya gum, gum tragacanth, carob gum, alginates, carageenates and their salts or a mixture of two or more of these; the cellulose ether may be hydroxyethyl cellulose or carboxymethylcellulose or a metal (e.g. Na) salt thereof; and the cellulose material may be alpha cellulose, wood flour or microcrystalline cellulose. The compositions may also contain mineral oil and/or a flavour oil.
