[Also in Division G4] An arrangement for providing a visual indication of his position relative to an approach plane A to the pilot of a taxying aircraft approaching a parking position comprises a light source 11 and a plurality of elongated plane reflectors L1. . . L21. In the position shown light is observed from reflectors L6, L7, and L8; when the aircraft is in the correct approach plane the light is in line with a reference light M. A coloured screen comprising red portions R1, R2 and green portion G may be provided. In an alternative arrangement, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), two series of reflectors are arranged in line at right angles to the approach plane and a light source is provided at each end of the line; the reflectors are so arranged that the pilot sees two lights (one red and one green) which coincide when the aircraft is in the correct approach plane. Reference is made to the possible further use of the arrangement to provide a visual indication of the correct angle of approach for an aircraft landing on a landing ground or an aircraft carrier.
