Abstract

1,261,779. Preserving liquids. YURIN TOKUSHU KOGYO CO. Ltd. 31 Dec., 1969 [9 Jan., 1969], No. 63492/69. Heading A2D. [Also in Divisions A5 and B8] A hypodermic injection device cotnprises a vertically elongated casing 1, Fig. 1, preferably of metal or plastics material, with an open upper end 1a, a support 2 of flexible and soft rubber or synthetic resin, a needle assembly having a hollow needle 3 with a tip end 3b stuck into support 2 and a base end 3a supporting and communicating with a cup member 4 containing a predetermined quantity of a freeze-dried drug 6, and a cap 5 sealing the casing end 1a. The cap 5 is sealed to the casing using atactic polypropylene or atactic polyethylene 7 during freeze drying of the drug 6 in cup 4. The support 2 may have a hollow cylindrical portion (2c), Fig. 2 (not shown) extending around the needle 3 and supporting cup 4. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, a casing 1B has a lower cylindrical portion containing a needle support 2B and shoulders 1Bd for supporting a drug-containing cup 4A, and an upper tapered portion 1Bc receiving a sealing cap 5B which has an inverted cup-shaped part 5Bb engaging a packing member 8 sealing the cup 4A. The casing 1B and cap 5B are wrapped in aluminium foil 9.
