Abstract

1,260,640. Friction clutches. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 28 Dec., 1970, No. 61404/70. Heading F2C. A method of making clutch plates having a thin friction lining comprises securing locking plates 3, 5 to the opposite sides of a layer of friction material 1 and thereafter cutting the friction lining in half to form two clutch plates. The friction lining material may be woven asbestos yarn incorporating zinc wire and impregnated with a resin compound. The backing plates may be made of steel, aluminium or plastics material. The lining may be bonded or moulded on to the backing plates.
