Abstract

1,260,264. Reciprocating pumps. SPRAYON PRODUCTS Inc. Feb.25, 1970 [March 3, 1969], No.9042/70. Addition to 1, 103, 083. Heading F1A. The apparatus of the parent Specification for charging material in a reservoir 35 into an aerosol can 10 containing a liquefied propellent gas is modified in that the injection piston 48 is reciprocated by an air operated piston and cylinder motor 46. The motor is operated by an air supply maintained at a constant pressure by a regulator, whereby the amount of material delivered is substantially constant irrespective of the material's viscosity. Reversal of the motor is controlled by a valve 52, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown) under the control of pilot valves actuated by the motor at the ends of its stroke. To indicate the amount of material injected a counter 54 records the number of strokes, the counter being possibly adapted to stop the motor automatically after a predetermined number of strokes. Each aerosol can 10 is raised on a platform 31 into sealing engagement with the outlet of the pump cylinder 38 by a toggle mechanism 64 actuated by downward movement of a lever 67. The cylinder 38 and the reservoir 35 are removable from a support 34 for cleaning. A ball check valve in the bottom of the cylinder 38 prevents material escaping from the reservoir when the filled can is removed.
