Abstract

1,259,941. Preventing unauthorized use of vehicles. TOOLING SERVICE Ltd. 25 March, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 17314/68. Heading B7J. [Also in Division F1] Unauthorized starting of the driving motor of an electrically propelled vehicle is prevented by a circuit for controlling the starting and containing a first manually operable switch for opening and closing the circuit and a thyristor, and a second manually operable switch between the gate of the thyristor and an earth or return connection, closure of the second switch when the first switch is closed causing the thyristor to become conductive so as to fully close the circuit. Closure of a control switch 2 does not energize the driving motor until a secret switch 12 (which may be a push-button switch for momentary operation) is also operated to apply a forward voltage to the gate 5 of a thyristor 4, thereby rendering the thyristor conductive to complete the circuit. A resistor 7 ensures that the current through the thyristor does not fall below the hold value.
