1,259,186. Aminoguanidine dialdehyde starch. MITSUBISHI PAPER MILLS Ltd. 28 March, 1969 [30 March, 1968], No. 16475/69. Heading C3U. [Also in Divisions C4 and G2] Aminoguanidine dialdehyde starch is prepared by adding acid and aminoguanidine bicarbonate to a dispersion of dialdehyde starch containing from 10-75% dialdehyde groups and allowing the mixture to react until the desired number of aminoguanidine groups have been formed. 7- 50% conversion of the dialdehyde groups are obtained in the preparations. This starch derivative may be further reacted with an anionic fluorescent dye such as a bistriazinyl compound or a ureidocoumarin to produce a less powerful fluorescent dye. The aminoguanidine dialdehyde starch may be used as a mordant and as a hardener for gelatine.
