Abstract

1,257,959. Extrusion screw press. T. GLOWACKI. 24 June, 1969 [26 June, 1968], No. 31878/69. Heading B1D. The solids outlet end of an extrusion screw press comprises an annular opening defined between the end of perforate casing 3 and cylindrical extension 12 of the screw 2, the opening being obtruded by an array of twelve plates 6, each hinged at its radially outer edge 7 and biassed inwards by a pneumatic ram 10, 11. This arrangement enables knots formed on one side of the opening to be discharged by localised displacement of the plates. The inlet 4 is illustrated in Fig. 5 (not shown) and facilitates ready passage of knots into the screw thread.
