Abstract

1,256,229. Vehicle lamps. FLEXIBLE LAMPS Ltd. 10 April, 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 17592/68. Heading F4R. A multiple-light rear lamp unit for a road vehicle comprises a combination on a flexible base 10 of a direction indicator light with bulb 18, a tail light with bulbs 19 and a stop light with bulb 20, the direction indicator light being in one compartment 17A covered with an amber plastics lens 24 and the tail light and stop lights being in another compartment 17B covered with a plastics lens 25, this latter compartment having windows 51 made of clear or translucent uncoloured plastics material in apertures 46 on either side of the bulbs with means for inserting and retaining opaque or coloured translucent screens 53 inside each window to cut off the light or to colour it as required. A window 51 is inserted in guides 47 on either side of each aperture 46 and has a central spine 54 on its inside surface so that screen 53 is retained in grooves 48 in guide 47 in a bowed condition under pressure to prevent rattling. The screen may be omitted if white light is required to illuminate a number plate or a red screen may be fitted as a warning light.
