Abstract

1,256,159. Pressing fabrics. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 22 Dec., 1969 [29 Dec., 1968], No. 62217/69. Heading D1S. The pressing plates 1 of a flat press for fabric are each maintained at a substantially constant temperature below 100‹C by supplying steam into a through-conduit 2, maintaining the pressure in the conduit 2 at a predetermined pressure below atmospheric pressure, and discharging the condensate produced in the conduit 2 while decreasing pressure outside the outlet of the conduit so that the pressure outside this outlet is always lower than the pressure within the conduit. Steam is supplied to the conduit 2 through a pipe 3 and a valve 5 and leaves through a conduit 14 connected to a steam trap 7 through a valve 6 and to a pump 10 through a valve 8 and a pressure gauge 9. The pressure in the conduit 2 is indicated by a gauge 4. The steam trap 7 may be bypassed by a conduit 11 having a valve 12. In operation, initially, valves 5, 6 are closed and the valve 12 is opened. The pump 10 is driven so that air pressure in the conduit 2 is decreased to a predetermined value. The valve 12 is closed and the valve 5 opened to supply steam to the conduit 2 whilst the pump 10 is continuously driven and the valves 6, 8 are open. To ensure that the steam which has condensed in the conduit 2 is discharged through the steam trap 7, the pressure in the conduit 2 is maintained at a higher pressure than that in the conduit 14 by at least 0.1 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>, preferably 0.3 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. The condensate is discharged from an outlet 15 and air or steam is discharged from an outlet 13.
