Abstract
1,256,035. Container closure; sealing containers. ATOMENERGI A.B. 10 Sept., 1969, No. 44665/69. Headings B8C and B8T. [Also in Division F1] A metal or glass container 11, e.g. for radioactive substances, has a closure comprising a metal disc or foil 12 soldered, welded, or melted on to the container mouth in fluid tight relationship and an outer elastic body 13, e.g. of rubber. The elastic body may be clamped on to the mouth and form a seal around a hollow needle when it pierces the closure to draw off the contents. Alternatively the closure may be fitted inside the container mouth without the aid of a clamp, Fig. 1 (not shown). A metal foil seal 16 may be provided near the bottom of the container and a plunger 17 having a circumferential protrusion 18 placed below this so that the plunger may be pushed into the container, thereby firstly cutting off the foil seal 16 and subsequently pushing the contents out through the hollow needle. The elastic body may be attached to the metal disc or foil with adhesive.
