Abstract

1,255,548. Annealing furnaces. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 29 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968], No. 21673/69. Heading F4B. An annealing furnace 7 for annealing metals or metal alloys under an inert gas, e.g. argon, includes in the lower portion of the furnace lining refractory gas-permeable bricks 3 through which the inert gas is introduced into the furnace chamber 4. The bricks are enclosed on two sides with a sheet of heat-resistant metal 5 so that the inert gas flows directly over the articles 6 to be annealed. The porous bricks can also be provided in the wall surrounding the furnace door or in the furnace door itself in order that only inert gas should flow out of the chamber when the door is opened.
