Abstract

[Also in Division D1] A web treatment roller consists of an inner core 3 carrying an outer elastic shell 5 of polyurethane having a Shore A hardness of between 86 and 96, applied by coating the core with liquid polyurethane. The core is supported on a fixed shaft 4 by bearings 11, and the annular space between them is divided into two portions by diametrically opposite longitudinal seals 8, the lower portion 9 being supplied with pressure fluid through a passage 10 to increase the nip loading.
