Abstract

1,254,590. Ester lubricants. SCHLOVENCHEMIE A.G. 5 March, 1969 [7 March, 1968], No. 11806/69. Heading C5F. A lubricant comprises a mixture of a diester of a branched dicarboxylic acid with a straight chain aliphatic monoalcohol and a complex ester based on a branched dicarboxylic acid and either hexanediol or trimethyl hexanediol. Suitable diesters are the octyl-decyl diester of trimethyladipic acid and diesters based on monomethyl glutaric acid, dimethyl glutaric acid, monomethyl succinic acid, dimethyl succinic acid, monomethyl malonic acid and dimethyl malonic acid. Suitable complex esters are made by condensing 1À02 or 1À5 mols of trimethyladipic dimethyl ester or trimethyladipic-octyl-decyl. ester and 1 mol of 1,6-hexanediol or of 1,6-dimethylhexanediol and 0À05-0À1 wt. per cent of tetraisopropyl titanate.
