Abstract

1,254,553. Vehicle suspensions. BRITISH MOTOR CORP. Ltd. 25 April, 1969 [2 May, 1968], No. 20758/68. Headings B7D and B7H. A motor vehicle road wheel mounting, for use with a Macpherson type independent suspension, comprises a hub 2 formed of parts 3 and 4 bolted together at flanges 5 and 6 so as to axially locate between respective flanges 13, 14 a self contained bearing assembly 7 which supports a stub axle 8 of wheel 1. The wheel 1 is adapted to be bolted to the stub axle, and bolts 9 bolt the stub axle to a disc 23 of a disc brake. The inner end of the hub is rigidly connected with a strut 17 which is attached at its opposite end 18 to the vehicle body. A lug 19 of hub part 3 is connected by means of a ball-and-socket joint 20, 21 to a control arm 22.
