1,252,785. Web spools. FRIED. KRUPP G.m.b.H. 3 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 48689/69. Headings B8M and B8R. [Also in Divisions G1 and G2] A web spool, for use with rolls of recording strip, paper, textiles, metal strip and film material comprises a cylindrical pin 20 inserted in a hollow end of the core 1 and carrying a spool flange 2, the pin having a dog 21 engaging a slot 23 in the core, the slot having an angled portion 22 which extends obliquely away from the end of the core. The core is a spring sleeve split longitudinally and resiliently expansible by a pin 20 inserted at each end. On turning the pins 20 clockwise the pins are pulled further into the core by the cam action of slots 22 and dogs 21, the flanges then gripping the web roll. When it is desired to free the roll relative to the spool, the pins 20 are turned anticlockwise, the dogs 21 then resting in detents 24. One of the pins may be replaced by a fixed flange.
