Abstract

1,252,370. Photo-mechanical printing plate. W. R. GRACE & CO. Oct.3, 1969 [Oct.3, 1968], No.48818/69. Headings G2C and G2M. [Also in Division B6] A printing plate assembly comprises a flexible printing plate, backed by a porous, fibrous matrix resilient body impregnated with an elastomeric material and adhesively secured to a saddle, and made from a photo-curable polymeric composition containing a polymer with at least two unsaturated carbon to carbon bonds per molecule, a polythiol and a photo-sensitizer, such as benzophenone (see Specification 1,251,232. Preferably the resilient body is a felted sheer, such as a cotton linter paper impregnated with acrylonitrile copolymer latex and melamine resin, with or without a layer of synthetic rubber on its surface. The resilient body may comprise fibres of cellulosic material, or of nylon or rayon, and polyurethane, silicone or other rubber foam may by used as additional cushioning material. Preferably the printing plate is secured to the resilient body by means of an adhesive.
