Water or another physiologically tolerable liquid is treated by being subjected to oscillations modulated by one or more low frequency signals, the oscillation frequency being a multiple of the modulating frequency. As described the oscillations are applied as electric currents between silver or stainless steel electrodes. Alternatively the oscillations applied to the liquid, preferably water, may be mechanical, electromagnetic, or light. The treated liquid is said to be of use for the treatment or diagnosis of illness.
