Abstract

1,251,420. Sockets for posts. HILLS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Oct., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 49878/69. Heading E1B. A post and socket assembly for a clothes hoist comprises a tubular socket 15 having an inwardly projecting pin portion 17 passing through a hole 16, the depth of projection being less than the depth of a flute 26 in the base of the post, and the diameter corresponding to the width of a circumferential slot 28 which extends from the upper end of the flute and terminates in a short axially extending slot (30). The pin portion 17 has a looped return portion 18 and a downwardly projecting portion 19 held to the socket by an elastic band 20. The hole in the ground may be lined by a polymeric plastic flexible bag 23. A cap is provided to close the socket when not in use. The pin may be provided by a short stud welded in a hole in the socket wall.
