A girder comprises an upper rod 11, a pair of parallel laterally spaced lower rods 13 connected by spaced transverse rods 14, and a continuous zig-zag rod 17 with its apices connected to rods 11 and 14. The rods 14 have legs 15 with longitudinal ends 16 for connection to battens 19 of shuttering for casting concrete.
