Abstract
1,251,122. Transformers. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 7 Jan., 1969 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 858/69. Haeding H1T. A method of making an electrical component e.g. a pulse transformer comprises surrounding an annular magnetic e.g. ferrite core with an adherent insulating coating and placing the unit 120 so formed in a plastics housing 130 having spaced grooves 131 in the surface abuting unit 120, the grooves being filled with metal e.g. tin-silver alloy by die-casting to form part of at least one winding the remainder of which is metal cast into grooves in the die. Prior to die-casting, silver-plated copper terminal pins 132 are located in the housing and connections thereto are also formed by the die-casting. Housing 130 and the adherent insulating coating may be moulded integrally around the core, holes through the housing taking the place of grooves 131.
