Abstract

1,251,094. Swimming pools. R. F. DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Oct. 20, 1969, No. 51341/69. Heading A4N. A collapsible paddling pool comprises a polygonal base 1 and an upstanding wall 2 secured about the periphery of the base and having a plurality of substantially plane wall elements 3 each connected at its opposed vertical edges to respective neighbouring wall elements, each element 3 including a substantially rigid rectangular reinforcement 11 of sheet material such as hardboard whereby each element is flexibly secured to its neighbours by a narrow web 10. The web 10 is so narrow that connected elements are only allowed relative movement about an axis lying within the web. The base is formed from a single heavy-gauge plastics sheet and the wall 2 is formed by two plastics sheets 4, 5 surrounding the sheets 11 and heatsealed at 6 and (7), (8) and (9), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The seal at (7) is inboard of the side wall to facilitate scaling to the base. A drain hole 12 is closed by a captive plug 13.
